Paul's twelfth solo single.
Credited to "Wings"
This incarnation featuring : Paul, Linda, Denny Laine, Jimmy McCulloch and Joe English.
Geoff Britton (a karate expert) left the band after recording just five tracks with Wings, which included the NEXT single,
plus the B-side of this release, but NOT the A-side, on which he was replaced by Joe English (an American !).
Also guesting were Tom Scott and Dave Mason.
The release was a promotion for the forthcoming album, "Venus And Mars" on which both tracks appear.
The single was released in a picture sleeve.
The label appeared to suggest it was on Capitol (see above !), but Paul was contriving to use this label, and in reality it has a Parlophone catalogue number.
But it is the first solo Beatle record NOT to include "An Apple Record", and it was also the first to include the MPL logo (McCartney Productions Ltd.)
I bought a U.S. import copy of "Listen", actually only because I had damaged the sleeve of my U.K. copy, and I intended to replace the sleeve,
but I was stunned to notice the "Venus and Mars" symbols adorning the front and rear of the sleeve were totally different !
This also explains why I have shown both U.K. and import scans above together.
Even Neville Stannard's excellent "Working Class Heroes" book, which describes every U.K. and U.S. single says,
"The U.S. single was released in the same picture sleeve".
Well Neville, if (when ?) you reprint this fabulous book, you'd better change that statement !
