Clearly Ringo thought that Ringo was his first true album, as he decided to call this his "4th".
But unlike the previous three this carried no contribution from the other Beatles, and
the majority of songs were written by himself with the help of Vini Poncia.
Also other than a few star name backing vocalists, this release didn`t feature a host of guest celebrity musicians.
With the Atlantic influence, Arif attempted to turn Ringo into an R'n'B/disco singer, but the lack of a chart entry in England,
and it's lowly no.162 peak in the States showed what the public felt about it.

The album was recorded at the Atlantic Studios in New York in June 1977 and at the Cherokee Studios, L.A.
As well as the tracks issued below, the B-side of the first single released to preview the album (Drowning In The Sea Of Love)
includes one track not on the album, "Just A Dream".
Other unreleased tracks recorded during these sessions are :
"By Your Side", "Birmingham", "The Party" and an alternate version of "Just A Dream",
Plus, a couple of private recordings inspired by his current girlfriend Nancy Andrews with the working titles of :
"Nancy, Ringo, Vini and Friends" and "Duet - Nancy and Ringo".

The album cover was designed by John Kosh, with cover photography by Nancy Andrews and Lew Hahn.
