Wherever possible I have re-visited the tracks and tried to list them below in the correct recording sequence based on lyric or
creational progression. Most will be right, but some are either indeterminate, unfathomable, or simply not important as to which came first.
Also note that the timings are the complete track on the disc, so some takes listed as being the same may have different timings as they could
include more spoken pieces either side of the recording.
This index is complete with regard to the Complete Lost Lennon Tapes, The Anthology and
Acoustic
.
Eventually, I hope to add in other bootleg cross references too.

Notes
Three tracks of John's are intrinsically linked, which is never more apparent then when hearing these Lost Lennon Tapes.

|
Nobody Told Me |
Notes
Demo 1 is titled as "Everybody's Talkin'", second version is same but longer.
Demo 2 John sings "Nobody Told Me" chorus directly over existing chorus of demo 1.
Demo 3 & 4 John says at start is "For Ringo", 4 is slightly different to 3 ...
... as though John did a different overdub of a basic backing track.
|
Not Fade Away |
|
#9 Dream |
Notes
The first two demos (CLLT 8 & 9) are basically the same, the second is longer and seems slightly overdubbed.

Real Life |
Notes
Three tracks of John's are intrinsically linked, which is never more apparent then when hearing these Lost Lennon Tapes.
"Real Life" ... "I'm Stepping Out" ... and "Real Love" were all born of the same seeds.
The "Real Life" verses as sung in the demos ended up in the song "I'm Stepping Out".
The chorus, is clearly "Real Love".
Therefore one would have to assume that "Real Life" came before both of the other two.

Notes
At the end of (1) and the start of (2) John says, "Mal, get us a drink", so those takes directly carry on from each other.
|
Starting Over, (Just Like) |
Notes
Before piecing bits together, John had a number of musical ideas that he had committed to tape as a variety of possible tunes.
Starting Over is probably the best example of a number of ideas that are individually rejected, yet together the pieces make a
perfect whole.
Firstly listed above is an unused piece that has the barest hint of the Starting Over melody.
This is followed by "My Life", "Don't Be Crazy", "The Worst Is Over" and finally the bringing together of all these
demos as a finished (Just Like) Starting Over.
I believe that the pieces are listed above in a logical sequence.

Tennessee |
Notes
Tennessee is another of John's songs that combine separately constructed tunes into a final offering.
"Memory" (a.k.a. Memories) and "Howling At The Moon" were initial ideas in their own right, but John eventually
kept the tune, discarded most of the original words and ended up with Tennessee.
