Recorded in London and Los Angeles over the course of the past two years. Its release coincides with the September 16th 2005 launch of Paul McCartney's all new 37 City US Tour, his fastest selling concert ever!

Chaos and Creation in The Backyard is a return to the basics for McCartney. Paul is credited with playing the majority of the instruments on the album, which is somewhat reminiscent of 'McCartney' (1970) when he was credited with playing ALL of the instruments. They include the drums, guitar bass, keyboards, as well as many of the less traditional instruments such as block flute, harmonium and flugelhorn.

The CD/DVD Set is beautifully presented in an Maroon Slip case with gold lettering entitled "Paul McCartney" "Chaos and Creation in The Backyard" Special Edition.
The gold lettering of Paul's name is very special .... have you turned the cover upside down ?
Paul's name has been printed as an "Ambigram" ... word or words that have rotational symmetry.
For a nice site with definitions and examples see Jonathan Gough's Ambigram Site.

The CD album is on the Maroon Parlophone Label, and is protected in a jewel case which is inlaid in Gold. In addition there is a very nice 20-page booklet containing the lyrics to the tracks, together with some fine line artwork. The front of the booklet displays a truly nostalgic black and white image taken by brother Mike McCartney called "Our kid through Mum's net curtains" featuring a very young Paul McCartney in his garden strumming guitar and is dated 1962.
The booklet Line art is by Brian Clarke.
The booklet rear photograph, "Paul at the piano, 2005" was by Bill Bernstein.
Art Direction by Paul McCartney and Stylorouge London.

The C.D. entered the chart at number 10 on 18th September 2005, the following week it dropped to 34 and then to 70.

"Chaos" was also issued on vinyl, which included a bonus set of four 12" square line drawing prints.

I am led to believe that as of 2nd December 2005 "Chaos" had sold about forty-five thousand copies.
