Detail : Paul's thirtieth-sixth "solo" album release, and fourth classical outing.
Credited as: Orchestral and Chamber Music by Paul McCartney.

Originally commissioned by Magdalen College in Oxford to commemorate the 550th anniversary of the foundation of the college in 1998; this piece was scored by Sir Paul for choirs and orchestras, there are four movements including the work's centrepiece 'Interlude [Lament]' - a deeply moving instrumental tribute to Paul's late wife Linda, and features vocals sung in English & Latin by boys of King’s College Choir, Magdalen College Choir, Academy of St Martin in the Fields and EMI debut artist Kate Royal.

Note that there was also a version issued with a deluxe embossed hard-back digipak picture sleeve complete with 60-page picture booklet.
This was deleted immediately after initial orders had been delivered. Key personnel on this piece of work include :

Krista Bennion Feeney - First Violin.
Anca Nicolau - Second Violin.
Joanna Hood - Viola.

Lawrence Foster
At the time of this release, Music Director of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and National Orcestra of Catlunya. He conducted the world premiere of Standing Stone.
Andrea Quinn
At the time of this release, Music Director of The Royal Ballet.
Sir Richard Rodney Bennett
Has achieved distinction as both a composer and virtuoso pianist accompanist, he was knighted in 1998 for his services to music.
Jonathan Tunick
Composer and conductor of over fifty film scores, and received the first ever Tony Award for Orchestration for his work on the Broadway musical Titanic.

The 16 page booklet enclosed with the C.D. features some wonderful pictures of Linda's artwork and very complete information of the music accompanying it.
