The A-side was produced by Paul, albeit incognito under the pseudonym of "Apollo C. Vermouth".
The Bonzo's were another great eclectic band of the 60's, so much so that I think I have all of their recordings.
My love for them could be in part due to their unmistakable homage to my grandfather's own band "The Nitwits", who are
of course mentioned in the sleeve notes of "The History Of The Bonzo's" (United Artists UAD 60071). This was their fourth single release (co-incidentally their first two were on Parlophone !), and their only singles chart entry. It was recorded after their appearance in The Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour", and was produced by Apollo C. Vermouth (Paul !). Paul had become a big fan after catching their live spectacular.
The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band featured Neil Innes who would later play a great part in the success of The Rutles.
