THE SUNDOWN PLAYBOYS

The Sundown Playboys were a French-language cajun band from Louisiana.
A pre-existing single was brought to the label by Ringo Starr.

There are no Production credits on either side record label.

Originally released as a 7" single with a picture sleeve.
The front of the sleeve has a picture of the band, the rear has the lyrics.

This scarce recording was also issued by Apple Records as a very rare TEN INCH vinyl disc playing at 78 rpm.

The original disc was issued in a very limited quantity on the custom Apple label with 'Mfd in U.K.' label text.
The official machine stamped information in the runout groove of the 78 is:
Side 1 - APPLE 78 44 A-1U and tax code 'KT'.
Side 2 - APPLE 78 44 B-1U and also 'KT'.

The 10" vinyl disc came in a pink and white printed sleeve as can be seen above.

Note, if you want to find this actual a-side without parting with hard cash for a rare bit of vinyl,
then when Morrisey selected tracks for his DMC - "Under The Influence" album, he started the album with this very track !

                            Saturday Nite Special - Under The Influence

"Under The Influence" is a series of various artist compilation albums released by DMC UK.
The tracks for each album are chosen by an artist or band to show the music that has influenced their work.
The issued compilations have been compiled not just by Morrissey, but also the likes of;
Ian Brown, Paul Weller, Paul Heaton, Bob Geldof, Super Furry Animals, and Carl Barāt.
Each album has sleeve notes written by the compiler discussing the tracks selected.
